Commission Trials

It is November 5th, there has been one trial, and a second one filed and we are still waiting on the judge’s final ruling. We as real estate professionals that work to represent people in the largest financial investment in their lives are scratching our heads that our commission is under attack by an attorney that charges not 6%, but 33%. Why the plaintiffs have testified that they never thought that they were being conspired against, or that there is any type of price fixing. How even though they could have sold their homes themselves, they chose to hire a real estate agent, and agreed, by contract to list their homes with an agent, who sold their homes, for an amount acceptable to them, because they signed the offer, they signed several different legal documents, including the new deed that conveyed their home to someone else and did all of this willingly, and with a smile on their face.
We as agents understand the purchasing and selling process, and it gets more complicated, every year. We as agents work to insure that our clients are represented, and that every step in the process is completed with our clients interests in mind. No one sees the telephone calls, the texts, the time it takes to make sure that every detail is completed. We as agents know that if our clients think the process was pretty easy, and they are happy to receive the keys to their new home, that we have done an exceptional job. Because if we didn’t, they would think the entire process a nightmare of one little thing after another that needs their attention, and why does every one else’s home purchase look so easy, and ours is chaos!

To new agents, please let me say “This too will pass” We will be fine, people will always need agents. Right now I am working on a new Buyer’s Agency Presentation so that you will be able to sit with a potential buying client and educate them on all of things that you do to ensure that their interests are your number one concern in everything that you do, and that you will be there with them through every step, every process, until the keys are in their hands.
